Fire Reports Request

Fire Incident Reports and/or Fire Investigation Reports are available for purchase from our Fire and Incident Reporting Systems (FIRS) department and are therefore not subject to or available through FOI.

Section 14(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 provides that a person is not entitled to obtain access under Part III to:

"a document which contains information that is available for purchase by the public in accordance with arrangements made by an agency;".

CFA has such an arrangement.

Types of reports

This is a one page summary of the full incident report. This report does not give a lot of detail however it more acts like a confirmation of fire.
This is a print out of all the information that the attending brigade were able to determine in relation to this fire. It provides more information around cause of fire (as much as the attending brigade were able to determine) than the one page summary.
The Fire Investigation Report is a comprehensive report outlining the investigation into the origin and cause of fire. The report is completed by a CFA Fire Investigator. This type of report is not conducted and/or available on every single incident the CFA attend.

Any CFA Incident Reports provided under this process are covered by a Copyright which prohibits you giving them to any other party by any means. If required to support an insurance claim, please provide your insurance company with a link to this page.
