The devastating January 2026 bushfires have resulted in significant impacts to many communities across Victoria.
CFA volunteers and brigades have been working tirelessly to serve and protect these communities.
We are extremely grateful for the many generous donations and fundraising efforts which will support our organisation and the important work that we do.
There are a number of ways that you can support us and the affected communities.
For all non-monetary donations, such as water, clothing, appliances, energy drinks, food, etc, it's best to reach out to other charities to make these donations. Further guidance is provided below.
Financial contributions
Donate to CFA
Donors can choose to donate to one of the two CFA funds below, both of which are tax deductible (for all donations over $2). A tax-deductible receipt will be issued at the time of donation to the nominated email. Thank you for your generous support.
CFA Brigades and Groups
via CFA & Brigades Donations Fund
Donate directly to CFA & Brigades Donations Fund or to a specific brigade. Find your nearest CFA brigade.
(1) The CFA and Brigades Donation Fund has Deductible Gift Recipient status (DGR) Item1 and is a Registered Charity with ACNC.
CFA (Country Fire Authority)
via CFA Public Fund
CFA Public Fund is administered by the Board. Donations go towards building capabilities of CFA's volunteers.
(2) Country Fire Authority (Public Fund) has Deductible Gift Recipient status (DGR) Item 1.
CFA has partnered with MyCause to facilitate donations to CFA brigades and groups, and CFA’s Public Fund. These donations are processed securely by PayPal BrainTree, a global payment processing solution. These funds are remitted to our bank account on a monthly basis, and distributed to the nominated brigade following the funds clearing.
For all enquiries please email us at cfagivingcommunity@cfa.vic.gov.au or please call +61 (03) 9262 8444.
How your donation is used at CFA
Any money donated to CFA’s volunteer brigades or groups is disbursed to the brigade to be used in line with the general objects of the CFA & Brigade Donation Fund (Trust). This is to raise and receive money and donations from the public for distribution to the Brigades to enable them to:
- meet the costs of purchasing and maintaining firefighting equipment and facilities – including trucks, equipment, and enhancing station facilities
- funding community engagement programs and initiatives to prepare communities ahead of fire season
- providing resources and training to volunteer firefighters
- to otherwise meet those administrative expenses of the Brigades which are associated with their fire fighting functions
Donations to CFA’s Public Fund are directed towards strategic initiatives in the following categories.
- General Project Funding
- Health and Wellbeing
- Fire Safety Research
- Community Engagement
- Volunteer Development
Support CFA volunteers
Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria (VFBV) has established a fund to provide assistance to CFA volunteers who have suffered loss while responding to emergencies, including these most recent fires. Donations over $2 are tax deductible.
Support the Victorian community
The Victorian Government has established a 2026 Victorian Bushfire Appeal to raise funds for communities impacted by the fires. Donations over $2 are tax deductible.
In-kind contributions
CFA does not accept non-monetary donations. The best way you can help CFA in its mission to protect Victorian lives and property is through financial contributions. These donations will:
- Allow flexibility to meet immediate and longer-term recovery needs
- Reduce logistical challenges associated with storage, transport and disposal of goods
- Support volunteers, brigades and the organisation well beyond the initial response phase
These are some of the agencies that we recommend that accept non-cash donations:
VicEmergency Relief & Recovery
The VicEmergency Relief & Recovery website provides the most up-to-date and coordinated information on how to assist the community.
At the bottom of this page, community members are directed to GIVIT, an organisation which matches donated goods and funds with verified, real-time needs identified by impacted communities and relief agencies. This approach ensures support is targeted, timely and effective.
Victoria Farmers Federation (VFF)
The VFF is coordinating fodder relief for farmers affected by the bushfires. Please visit their emergency fodder program for more information.
Support options through the VFF include:
- Donations to the VFF Disaster Relief Fund, which has previously supported fencing replacement, infrastructure repairs and other recovery services
- Provision of fodder by farmers, should a VFF-led fodder program be activated with government
- Transport assistance, noting transporters must be registered with the VFF and engaged directly through the Emergency Fodder Program to be eligible for government freight rebates. A VFF consignment notice is required
BlazeAid
BlazeAid is volunteer-based organisation that works with families and individuals in rural Australia after natural disasters such as fires, cyclones, droughts and floods. Working alongside the rural families, our volunteers help to rebuild fences and other structures that have been damaged or destroyed.
BlazeAid advised they accept both financial and in-kind donations. Please refer the BlazeAid website for a list of items they accept.
Other support organisations
In addition to the 2026 Victorian Bushfire Appealand GIVIT the following organisations continue to provide critical relief and recovery support:
Other ways to support CFA
Making a gift to CFA in your will
You can leave a legacy and include a gift in your will to CFA or to a specific brigade.
If you are creating or updating a Will to include a gift to the CFA & Brigades Donations Fund or a particular Brigade, please download our sample wordings (PDF 199.3KB) that can be used or modified to reflect the specifications of your bequest in your Will.
Please let us know if you include the CFA & Brigades Donations Fund in your Will. This allows us to personally thank you and, with your consent, recognise your generous support.
To notify us of a bequest or if you are interested in further information about bequests, please email us at cfagivingcommunity@cfa.vic.gov.au.
Workplace giving programs
CFA is registered with two workplace giving programs:
Workplace giving is a simple and effective way to donate to CFA. You can nominate an amount of your salary you wish to donate, and it will be deducted from your pay using your employer’s payroll system – which provides a tax deduction.
Let your employer know that you want to give regular donations to CFA. If we are not already one of your organisation’s charities of choice, please nominate us.
If you are interested in setting up a Workplace Giving program where you work, or if you have other enquiries about Workplace Giving please email us at cfagivingcommunity@cfa.vic.gov.au.
