Valor Medal

Summary

The Valor Medal may be awarded to any CFA member who saved or attempted to save a life at grave personal risk.
The medal is antique gold in colour featuring a firefighter rescuing a child depicted on the front and the CFA emblem on the back.

Criteria

Awarded in circumstances where a member has made a deliberate choice to go from a place of safety to a place of danger where there is a clear and significant risk to life or to remain in such a perilous position to save, or attempt to save, a human life.

Design

The Valor Medal comprises a medal, lapel pin and ribbon bar.

The medal is antique gold in colour and 32 mm in diameter. It has a firefighter rescuing a child depicted on the front.

On the back is the CFA emblem. It is suspended by a red ribbon with a vertical central blue band.

Nominations

Nominations supported by not less than two statutory declarations from witnesses of the action must be submitted through to the Assistant Chief Fire Officer for recommendation to the Authority.
