Having a realistic and adaptable fire plan can be the key to helping you and your property survive a bushfire or grassfire. In this free session you will learn how to make a fire plan based on your individual circumstances. You'll also gain tools and develop your knowledge to continue working on your plan after the session.

Who is it for?

Fire Safety Planning is aimed at people who live, work, visit or travel through high fire risk areas. You may already have some awareness of your fire risk—this session will help you be even more prepared for fire and improve your planning.

The focus of the session, either bushfire or grassfire, is tailored to your local environment.

Fire Safety Planning can also be delivered to community groups, such as 4WD clubs, horse groups, Rotary clubs, township groups, community houses, cycling groups and Men's Sheds.

Ideally, attendees have been to a Fire Safety Essentials (FSE) session, but it's not a prerequisite. Anyone is welcome.

Which topics are covered?

CFA's Fire Safety Planning session is designed to help you begin working on a fire plan for yourself and your household, so you can feel confident and prepared before and during fire season.

The session covers:

How to tailor a fire plan to your personal/family situation.
Understanding your local fire risks.
How fire behaves and how it impacts your fire plan.
Where to go for trusted information before and during a fire.
What to do when it's too late to leave.
How to prepare your property before and during summer.
How to prepare yourself.
What to do on days with a higher fire risk.

What will happen in the session?

Fire Safety Planning is a free, 3 hour in-person or online session facilitated by a trained CFA member.

During the session, you'll receive a fire planning resource and begin to fill it out. You'll also be given the tools and resources to finish it after the session.

You will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the session and get to know other local people during break time.
