Community Alert Sirens

Community Alert Sirens are used as part of Victoria’s warning system for all hazards – including flood, fire and storm. They are only used when there is imminent threat to the community.

Short Siren (up to 90 seconds) – indicates a CFA Brigade has responded to an emergency incident nearby. Stay informed.

Extended Siren (5 minutes) – indicates that a current emergency has been identified in the local area and people should seek further information immediately. The emergency incident will impact people in this area.

Sirens are not stand alone means of warning the community and do not replace the need for people to monitor the conditions around them, particularly on hot, dry, windy days. A number of factors will limit who will hear the siren including adverse weather conditions, so you may not hear the siren.
