Diversity

Victoria’s population is one of the fastest growing and most diverse in Australia.

CFA is committed to embracing and encouraging diversity among its members across Victoria. We respect the rights, dignity, worth and property of all people.

CFA values an environment which is inclusive to all and aims to break down language and cultural barriers. We believe a diverse and inclusive workplace brings out the best in our people and helps us to provide a better service to Victorian communities.

Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders

CFA acknowledges Victoria’s aboriginal communities and their rich culture and pays deep respects to their elders past and present. CFA aslo recognises the intrinsic connection to country that Traditional Owners have and pays respect to the land management practises used for thousands of years.

CFA is committed to encouraging and supporting indigenous Australians amongst its Career and Volunteer firefighter ranks.

In 2014 CFA developed a Koori Inclusion Action Plan 2014-2019 (pdf 2MB) which aims to create greater inclusion for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within its membership.

The Koori Inclusion Action Plan includes a number of actions aimed at ensuring our structures, behaviours, culture and values will reflect our respect for the Koori Community, the traditional owners of the land upon which we now live as Victorians.

In 2014 CFA commissioned a piece of Aboriginal Artwork called which tells a story about how CFA cares for country.
