Early Fire Safe

Fire, burns an scalds - you can stop them!

Early Fire Safe is an educational program delivered by fire service personnel and supported by the Country Fire Authority (CFA) and the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB).

The aim of Early Fire Safe is to raise awareness of the causes of burns and scalds to children under the age of five - and to advise how to prevent these injuries.

The key messages of the program for parents and caregivers are:

  • Children under the age of five are particularly vulnerable to burns/scalds.
  • Fire, burn and scald injuries are preventable.
  • Children under the age of five do not recognise danger or know how to protect themselves.
  • Many children show an interest in fire at an early age.

Children under the age of five think and behave differently to older children. Research show that children under the age of five are especially vulnerable to injuries and death through burns and scalds.

The safety of very young children is best ensured by the people responsible for their daily care and protection. By conducting 45-60 minute presentation at your venue, participants can increase their awareness, allowing them to foresee dangers and take actions to prevent these injuries.

The Early Fire Safe program includes:

  • Interesting presentation with real-life examples of fire suppression.
  • Information provided by a trained professional.
  • Product safety information.
  • Factsheets for distribution.
  • Promotional materials.
