Community led action plans

Community Led Planning (and other like initiatives such as Community-based planning) is an approach that aims to support communities in developing their own localised risk reduction plans.

Community group planning for bushfiresCFA's Community Led Planning demonstration project began in 2012. It involved 17 high-risk communities, who each developed their own, localised plan with the support of a CFA facilitator.

The trial found that  communities, when supported, are in the best position to lead activities that result in a stronger, more connected and prepared community.

CFA has since gone on to successfully trial this type of approach in other communities across Victoria, partnering with Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) and other emergency and local government agencies, as well as community groups, to help communities lead and develop their own plans for emergency preparedness and resilience.
