Case Studies

Roadsides are important for safety, the provision of services (such as electricity) and the environment. There are eight roadside fire management case studies available in this series, providing information about current roadside fire management plans, projects and programs being undertaken by CFA and other organisations. These case studies are designed to provide ideas. They are not formal CFA policy or guidelines.

These case study publications may be of assistance to you but CFA does not guarantee that this publication is without flaw of any kind or is appropriate for your purposes and therefore disclaims any liability for any error, loss or other consequence which may arise from you relying upon any information in these publications.

Project Road Sign

Prom Road Fire Management Plan
Historically the road leading to Wilsons Promontory National Park was regularly burnt. This burning stopped resulting in dense vegetation and the loss of some native plant species. This program is a 25 year roadside management plan that uses burning to reduce fire risk and regenerate local native plants.
