CFA is one of the world's largest volunteer emergency service
and community safety organisations. CFA is based on community
involvement and gains its strength from the commitment of
local people.
- Approximately 58,000 volunteers
- 1228 brigades
- Supported by over 1,100 paid staff, including over 500
career firefighters, providing emergency response and community
safety programs throughout Victoria
- Looking after all regional and country areas throughout
Victoria, including Melbourne's rapidly growing outer urban
areas
CFA does a lot more than fight fires, it's involved with:
- Rescues, including road rescue and hazmat incidents
- Education programs
- Community safety activities and programs, including
Community Meetings and Community Fireguard and many local
community activities
- Community building and community support, providing a
vital partnership for the Victorian community
Our career options cover a large range of positions from firefighting to finance. We have regional offices and staffed stations across Victoria.
Men and women from many walks of life are CFA volunteer
firefighters and support volunteers. Volunteers include the
self-employed, mothers at home, part time workers, shift
workers, people looking for work, retirees, trades people
and professionals.
