When fire breaks out on farms

Fire response should form part of your fire management planning.

Reporting and extinguishing fire - responsibilities under legislation

If you find a fire burning during the Fire Danger Period you must report it as soon as possible.

If you are an owner, occupier or manager of land, you must take all possible steps to extinguish fire on your property. If you can't extinguish the fire you must call Triple Zero (000) to report it.

Have a back-up plan

Plan what you will do if you are caught in a fire. Identify well-prepared buildings that could be a safer place to shelter from radiant heat.
