Step 1
This plan is for:
What is my trigger to leave?
Is this the same trigger for every household member?
Where will I go? What is my planned destination?
How will I get there?
What are the alternative routes out of the area?
Do I have a map?
Step 2
My relocation kit includes:
Have I practised packing the car with my relocation kit, pets and household members?
Do I have adequate home or property insurance?
Have I separately insured my machinery and equipment?
Family keepsakes and valuables I need to consider moving out of the area during summer?
Where will I store them?
List of contact details for friends and family who need to know about my plan
Other things to consider:
I have:
Step 3
House and garden maintenance:
Vegetation management:
Step 4
Who will be home on the predicted Severe, Extreme or Code Red days?
Are there children, people over 65 or people with an illness or disability at my property?
Have I checked with any of my neighbours to see if they need help?
Do I have transport organised?
Have I double-checked that there is fuel in my car?
Things to consider before I leave:
Step 5
Could any well-prepared houses or buildings in my area be a safer place to shelter if I'm caught in a fire? Where are they?
Is there a designated Neighbourhood Safer Place in my area that could be used as a last resort? Do I know the best route there? What is the address including Melways/VicRoads Reference?
If there are several consecutive days of Severe, Extreme or Code Red, how will this affect my plan?
