What is a False Alarm?A false alarm occurs when CFA attends an incident to find there is no emergency and there is no need for CFA fire-fighting or other expertise. CFA attend a large number of false alarm calls each year – over 12,800 (07/08 financial year).

The Building Code of Australia provides the following definition for “automatic”, which is “designed to operate when activated by heat, smoke, or fire sensing device”.
