Our supporters and partners

IGA

CFA has many valued partnerships right across Victoria, but few have been as longstanding and beneficial to so many CFA members and brigades as our partnership with Independent Grocers of Australia (IGA).

From monetary donations, to featuring in IGA’s Local Heroes advertising campaign, these benefits continue to grow. IGA is there in times of need, promotes CFA messages and provides ongoing local support in an invaluable contribution to the organisation.

IGA Community Chest

In 1997, IGA developed a program named the IGA Community Chest, whereby each purchase of an IGA branded product or specially marked Community Chest product within an IGA store would generate funds to be donated back to the store’s local community. CFA is one of the nominated beneficiaries of the IGA Community Chest in Victoria, and local brigades receive their donations once a year.

Since 2000, CFA has received more than $2.8 million dollars from the IGA Community Chest program. To learn more about IGA’s Community Chest, visit iga.com.au/iga-community-chest/

Ritchies Community Benefits

Ritchies stores are also an important part of the IGA family, and great supporters of
CFA. Ritchies IGA started its Community Benefits program in 1993, and local brigades have been benefiting ever since. As Ritchies have grown so has CFA and, since the programs inception, over $3 million has been donated to local brigades.

Royal Children's Hospital - Good Friday Appeal

The Good Friday Appeal is a unique fundraiser activity that brings people together from all parts of the community in a very

special way, with the common goal of raising money for the Royal Children's Hospital.

CFA has always been a strong supporter of the appeal, with brigades from across the state, signing up each year to conduct fundraising activities and tin ratting on street corners.

Since 1951, CFA brigades and members have raised over $23 million for the appeal and take great pride in raising money for the Royal Children’s hospital that provides so much care to sick children and their families.

CFA is very proud to be associated with the Good Friday Appeal and will continue to work with the appeal for many years to come.

Firestar Rose

The Firestar Rose was created as a consequence of the events of Black Saturday - 7 February 2009.

The rose honours the lives lost and the many dedicated CFA members who were involved. It is a symbol of regrowth and celebrates the regeneration of life.

Funds raised from the sale of each rose in the series will be donated towards CFA and its brigades. The Firestar Phoenix and Firestar Spirit rose are also available.

You can purchase a Firestar, Pheonix or Spirit Rose through the offical website www.firestarrose.com.au

If you would like to learn more about any of the above partnerships, you can contact our Communities and Communications team

Rural Press Club of Victoria

The Rural Press Club of Victoria was founded in 1966 by a group of rural journalists and public relations consultants. It was formed to offer a forum for fellowship for people involved in the rural industry.

CFA is a proud sponsor of the Rural Press Club of Victoria and its major annual event, the Rural Journalism and Photography Awards.

We recognise the important role media plays in rural and regional communities, which includes assisting CFA to provide timely and accurate information on fire safety before and during emergencies.
