Stations

Fire stations are specially designed to house our specialist vehicles and equipment.

There are over 200 urban fire stations, including 24 with permanent fire fighters appointed. Urban stations generally include an engine bay (some hold 6 appliances), meeting and/or training rooms, communications room, store room, kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Some urban stations also have workshops, Breathing Apparatus (BA) servicing rooms and locker rooms, and in locations where permanent firefighters are based, communications rooms called “Watch rooms”, sleeping quarters and mess room facilities.

There are around 1000 rural fire stations across the State. Some of these stations are small sheds which house the truck and equipment and others have further facilities which might include a training room, kitchen or a communications room.

CFA has recently embarked upon the Rural Fire Station Enhancement program and this aims to provide toilet facilities to all fire stations across the State.
